In a community economy we take collective action by considering the wellbeing of others in encounters that meet our needs.

This is the focus in Chapter 4 of Take Back the Economy.

Market transactions and the relationships forged between suppliers and consumers can acknowledge and promote others’ well-being. This chapter considers the full range of ways by which people connect with one another and acquire what they need to survive well. When we acquire what we need from distant others the nature of our market encounters is masked. Relations of production and consumption are hidden behind price
