Research Interests

Ethan’s research and writing focuses on challenging problematic distinctions between “economy,” “society” and “environment,” and on developing cross-cutting and integrative conceptual tools to strengthen solidarity economy and other postcapitalist organizing efforts. In addition to academic work (and feeding it), he has worked for the past 20 years with an array of organizing and popular education projects including Grassroots Economic Organizing (GEO), the Data Commons Cooperative, the Wild Mountain Cooperative (formerly JED Collective) farm and homestead, and the Land in Common community land trust.
