Examples of end-of-school comments from participants in 2025:

I've never before participated in anything as well organised and as meaningful. My biggest, deepest, possible "thank you". (Online participant)

It has changed the way that I think about the world as a whole! I now see things with the capacity to 'read' through a critical and community economies centred framework. (Online participant)

I loved this Summer/Winter School and would very much love to do it again. Thank-you for making this one of the best 2 weeks I have had in a long time. (Face-to-face participant)

One of the most valuable things I learned from the Summer/Winter School was how community economies thinking can be activated in practice, how it moves beyond theory and becomes a way of approaching research, relationships, and the world. The grounding in the ethical coordinates gave me a language and framework to think through questions I’ve been circling for some time, but hadn’t yet found the tools to articulate clearly. Overall, the Summer/Winter School was a deeply enriching experience of coming together as a community of learners to experiment with thinking. The generosity of the facilitators and the diversity of participants created a welcoming and inspiring space for learning. I appreciated how the program balanced theory with practice and embraced participants at different stages of their research. Being part of a supportive community committed to imagining and enacting different economies felt especially meaningful and inspiring. (Online participant)

Examples of end-of-school comments from participants in 2024:

I absolutely loved this experience – it is easily my favorite of the PhD to-date. The ability to engage so deeply with theory under the guidance and expertise of the facilitators was invaluable. I loved attending a face-to-face node and making connections with like-minded and curious others. I feel like I learned, or at least became much more fluent in, a language that helps me express my thoughts and interests and communicate the sentiments that I've been struggling to articulate throughout my PhD. I'm so grateful for everyone's time and attention, this made my summer! (Face-to-face participant)

Online Zoom facilitation was the best I've ever experienced! Really engaging and informative – felt really connected to everyone, and very comfortable to share opinion and listen to others. (Online participant)

I just want to say thank you once again to everyone involved in organizing, facilitating, and participating in this event! I feel incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to experience such an intense and enriching week (in the best way possible). To sum up my experience: I arrived with imposter syndrome and left convinced that this is what I want to pursue in the years to come. (Face-to-face participant)

Thanks for facilitating such a wonderful school, it is such a great opportunity to get introduced to this work and such a great community of people who are committed to making alternative worlds visible and possible. I feel very lucky that this space exists and that so many people are so generous with their time and sharing their experience and knowledge with early career researchers/students. Thanks so much <3 (Online participant)

This school exceeded my expectations and was exactly what I needed to focus my thoughts and get me back on track with my research. Thank you for all the great work you do and I was so very amazed with the organization, clarity and resources that were provided. (Online participant)
