I am first and foremost a neighbourhood-based artist entangled and embedded in the lifeworlds of the neighbourhoods in which I live and occasionally in those I pass through. I 'research while doing', meaning that through collaboratively experimenting with forms of local self-organization, I try and learn how to "survive well together". In the process methodologies are collectively developed, tried and tested all in dialogue with the day to day. Many of those are informed by the ways of thinking prevalent in art. Examples are Documentary Embroidery (developed with Vahida Ramujkic), the radio/teahouse, 3 Stages of Succession and Economic Portraits of Unlikely Entrepreneurs (all with Anna Coromina). In the past several years such experiments lead to the creation of the Bite the Biscuit Neighbourhood Market in the Boulevard area of Hull, where I live.
